2.    The president has not been well. This morning, however, he is doing a normal day’s work at the White House and says he feels fully recovered.

 

 

 

 

3.    Robert Grey, the Shakespearean actor, was on TV last night. I hadn’t seen him for some years. He looked a lot older.

 

 

 

 

 

4.    The BBC is launching a new current affairs programme. Since ‘World Watch’ closed six months ago, we have not had a major programme of this type during a weekend evening.

 

 

 

 

  

5.    Bob said that he had always wanted to live in Spain, but he had never made enough money.

 

 

 

 

 

6.    Paula and Mike are moving today. They bought a house on the coast last year. They had always said that they would move, but no-one had ever believed them.

 

 

 

 

 

7.    My wife has just had some bad news. Two days ago she went for an interview for a new job. She had been sure of getting the job. She hasn’t got it. Right now, she’s crying on the phone to her mum.

 

 

 

 

 

8.    I’m still trying to understand it. Last night I saw strange lights in the sky. As I watched, they shot off northwards at high speed. I had heard about ‘flying saucers’, but I had never believed in them. Since last night, I haven’t felt so sure.
